I haven’t had a FoodBook post in about the LONGEST time hahaha. Oops. I still have Ambush, Rider’s Cafe, Symmetry etc etc waiting in the line. But I decided to let Five & Dime cut the queue, because I really had such a lovely time there 🙂
So the CJ and I decided to once and for all figure out the difference between a latte and a flat white. We came to the conclusion that flat white is slightly more bitter, and yet still has a sweet aftertaste, while latte was just more milky overall. Verdict? We loved both, Five & Dime served up some pretty delicious coffee! And really promptly too!
Both were about $6. The glasses was slightly smaller than what you’d usually expect, but the coffee was absolutely lovely indeed.
“At Five & Dime, We are all about wholesome, belly-warming comfort food in a friendly and cozy atmosphere. Our philosophy is simple and honest, and we don’t rely on pretenses. Good food, good drinks and good company. We would love for you to join us! It’s nice to dine at the Five & Dime.”
I had a mentaiko pasta, while CJ went for the big breakfast. He initially wanted a braised pork belly sandwich, but it was sold out! :O It was about 3/4PM then, so if you’re intending on having that be sure to go earlier!! 🙂 And oh man I loved the mentaiko pasta. It had just the perfect amount of cream, and the spaghetti was cooked al-dente. The mentaiko topping was pleasantly generous too, and I couldn’t stop eating it even though I wasn’t hungry at all. The magic of a wonderful dish of mentaiko, ladies and gentlemen.
I really need to make a list of the Top Mentaiko Dishes soon – this pasta would certainly make the cut. $18, worth every delicious dollar.
We were both very pleased with the service at Five & Dime – it’s so rare to come across good and genuine service nowadays, don’t you think? Not that I blame the service industry entirely – customers these days can be pretty tiresome. But the waiters and waitresses at Five & Dime were very kind, polite and quick. I couldn’t really pinpoint what exactly about their service made them so good, but then CJ said,
“They served us water without us even having to ask for it.”
How many cafes have you been to recently that were so genuine with their service, they bothered to serve you water without you raising your hand? Exactly.
